The creation of TT Golf

The creation of TT Golf

Hi, my name is Colin Lee and I am the creator of TT Golf - A Modular Tabletop Golf Game.

Around 5 years ago i had an idea, to create the most realistic golf course i could that would fit on a table and today I'm proud to announce that I have accomplished just that.

I started with an 18mm thick plywood board measuring 1200mm x 600mm - that was the maximum area i'd decided i had to work with. Over the years i kept improving the design through experimenting with a wide range of materials. It was during this time that the one thing that was missing was the golf clubs and so i set to designing them. That was when the game really took shape.

The golf clubs though, are only one aspect of the game that makes it truly enjoyable to play. That breakthrough came last year at TT Scotland when i showed my 'Crazee Golf Course' at the convention.

I had no intention of taking it. I was simply going to see if i could sell my first game, but my son, a huge part of my designing, insisted i take it, he thought it was worth showing, which surprised me, so i did.

At the time i was going through some personal troubles and the convention was a wonderful relief from all that, but I had no idea how good it was going to be. Over 130 people wanted to buy the game and wanted me to make it happen. I had many conversations with people of all ages and from all walks of life and ideas just flowed. The 7 hour drive home was exhausting, but by the time i arrived, i had a clear idea on what i need to do.

The goals were; to make it completely modular, so that everyone can create their own courses. To make is aesthetically pleasing and to evoke satisfying f is played. To make it accessible to all ages and all people. To make it affordable and be able to grow the range of components.

I have now managed to achieve all of these things. By manufacturing it here in England i can avoid long delays in products arriving by using local suppliers of materials. By buying in bulk i will be able to keep the prices reasonable. Though it works out slightly more expensive that mass production in China, i prefer to give a more personal service. Customers can be assured in the knowledge that everything from production to distribution will be overseen by the same person and satisfaction in my products is my main objective.

So, what do we have available and when can we get the full game?

TT Golf is a game of skill, therefore practice is essential. Chipping the ball is a part of the game that players need to get good at and so I created the Chippin' Green for that purpose and to give potential customers a way to try out the game, with the club, to see if it is for them. It is a stand alone game using the same components that are used in the main game. Players can set the distance between Tee area and the targets to test that skill. The main game is just having the final tweaks, once I've finished designing the 9th Green, then all will be revealed and that will be within the month.

Going forward with TT Golf, i am making arrangements at different venues around the country to hold Tournaments. These will give everyone a chance to play the game in full, win prizes and buy the game.

Our very first Tournament is going to be held in Canterbury, Kent at the Canterbury Games Convention on the 15th & 16th August 2026. Big thank you to Darius Twyman for making this happen.

The next one after this, I am hoping to hold in Scotland at the Tabletop Scotland Convention, the place that turned the key in the lock. Just waiting for confirmation.
